BioSusTex seeks innovative solutions for a safe and sustainable textile value chain

The BioSusTex project will develop and evaluate sustainable and safe solutions for the textile industry by improving cellulose fiber recycling, replacing harmful chemicals and creating bio-based alternatives. With innovative technologies and industry needs in focus, the project contributes to a more circular and environmentally friendly textile value chain.

The EU-funded BioSusTex project aims to make the textile industry more sustainable by working to replace harmful chemicals and to improve recycling through innovative technologies.

The focus is on cellulose-based textiles, where the project is developing new pilot-scale technologies to efficiently recycle fibers, remove contaminants and create PFAS-free water-repellent finishes. The aim is that the results will provide industry with concrete solutions for a more environmentally friendly textile value chain.

By developing analytical methods and a decision support system based on the Safe and Sustainable by Design (SSbD) concept, the project helps the industry work towards more sustainable decisions.

IVL Swedish Environmental Research Institute contributes to BioSusTex with chemical management and environmental assessment expertise.
