Breakfast webinar about a life cycle based chemicals assessment toolbox

At the Mistra SafeChem breakfast webinar on March 23, we presented a life-cycle based toolbox for safe and sustainable chemistry, applicable to toxicity in both the environment, consumer products and workplaces. Now you can see a recording of the webinar.

A life cycle based assessment toolbox to assess and improve the safety and sustainability of chemicals. That was the focus of this breakfast webinar, which was held by the work package with the title Life cycle assessment and management. Life cycle thinking is key in the Mistra SafeChem programme that has the aim to enable and promote the expansion of a safe, sustainable and green chemical industry.

The toolbox is applicable to life cycle based alternatives assessment (LCAA), chemical footprint and life cycle assessment (LCA). Focus lay on the two ecotoxicity and toxicity impact assessment tools ProScale and USEtox, including both environmentally mediated, consumer- and workplace-related toxicity. The toolbox is used in a variety of case studies performed within the programme.

This series of breakfast webinars will close with the last of the work packages in Mistra SafeChem presenting its work on May 24. The topic for that webinar is the case studies in Mistra SafeChem – on cosmetics, the air quality inside cars and others.
